Uncle Gary was a fantastic musician, a great band leader, an innovative writer and a criminally under recognised singer. In my opinion, he had one of the finest soulful voices certainly to have come from this side of the Atlantic. His musical legacy will forever stand the test of time. I was lucky enough to see Gary play live many times. I always loved his gigs but my strongest memories will be the times me, my brother and sisters had, staying with Gary and Franky in the summer holidays during our childhood. They would both make sure we had great days out and had lots of adventures. Gary had a good sense of humour, he could tell a convincingly terrifying ghost story before bedtime! He was very knowledgeable about all manner of subjects and introduced myself and my brother Ellis to lots of new interests. We all thoroughly enjoyed those times and I’ll keep the memories forever.
